About this activity

Paragliding is an exciting option for those who want more than a short tandem flight over Phewa Lake. Taking off from Sarangkot, you'll experience an extended journey through the skies, using natural thermal currents to travel across the surrounding hills and mountain ridges. Depending on weather conditions, flights can last between one and three hours, reaching altitudes of up to 3,000 metres and covering distances of 30 kilometres or more.

With its reliable thermal conditions, impressive mountain scenery, and approximately 1,000-metre elevation difference between the launch point and the lake, Pokhara is renowned as an exceptional destination for cross-country paragliding. Throughout the journey, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountain range and the beautiful landscapes of the Pokhara Valley.

The experience is conducted by an experienced senior tandem pilot qualified in cross-country flying. Since the landing location depends on wind patterns and weather conditions, a dedicated ground support vehicle follows the flight and arranges your return transportation after landing.

Itinerary

Paragliding Adventure from Sarangkot (1,592 m)

Your adventure begins with a late-morning pickup from your hotel in Pokhara. Unlike regular tandem paragliding, cross-country flights require suitable thermal conditions, so departures are usually scheduled once the air currents become favorable. Enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 30 minutes to the Sarangkot launch site, situated at an altitude of 1,592 metres.

Upon arrival, your experienced tandem pilot will prepare your flying equipment, including the harness and safety helmet. Before take-off, you'll receive a detailed safety briefing and instructions on the launch procedure. Once the conditions are right, a few running steps will take you off the hillside and into the sky.

The experience goes beyond a conventional downhill glide. Your pilot uses natural thermal currents and ridge lift to gain altitude, potentially reaching 2,200 to 3,000 metres. The flight continues northwest across the surrounding ridge system toward areas such as Naudanda and Kande, following the changing wind and thermal conditions. Depending on the weather, you can enjoy approximately one to three hours of flying, covering distances of 30 kilometres or more under favorable conditions.

Throughout the journey, a dedicated ground support vehicle monitors your flight and coordinates with your pilot by radio. Once you land at the designated location, the support team will arrange your pickup and transportation back to Pokhara, usually arriving in the afternoon.
